Judicial Campaign Contribution Disclosure
Texas law must require every judge to immediately disclose to all parties any campaign contributions received from a litigant, attorney, or affiliated entity appearing before them in a pending proceeding and to recuse if such contributions create an appearance of impropriety. This upholds judicial impartiality and constitutional due process to protect Texas families and children from biased proceedings.
Note.
This resolution does not duplicate any existing RPT Platform plank. It is supported by the RPT Platform sections on Preservation of Constitution (including Judicial Overreach), Citizen Rights, Parental Rights, and Family Law, as well as Rule No. 4 adopting the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Texas by reference. It addresses violations of due process and impartial tribunals guaranteed by the Constitutions, prevents practical perversions of justice that defy the RPT Preamble and Core Values of limited government and family protection, and advances the RPT mission to safeguard children and families in all courts.
