Direct Election of State Commission on Judicial Conduct Members (PRIORITIES)
The Texas Legislature shall propose and submit to the voters a constitutional amendment requiring that all members of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct be elected directly by the people of Texas, to uphold the Texas Constitution’s principles of popular sovereignty, separation of powers, and judicial accountability, end self-protection by the judiciary that perverts constitutional limits, and fulfill the Republican Party of Texas mission to protect children and families from unaccountable misconduct in family courts.
Note.
This resolution does not duplicate any existing Platform Plank. It is supported by the following RPT Platform provisions: Preservation of Constitution (including limiting judicial overreach), Parental Rights, Family Law, State Sovereignty, and Government and Election Integrity. It is further supported by Rule No. 4 of the Rules of the Republican Party of Texas, which adopts the Texas Constitution by reference.
