Condemnation of Title IV-D and Non-Welfare Child Support
The Republican Party of Texas condemns the federal Title IV-D child support system and all child support obligations except in welfare recoupment cases, as well as any expansions of child support to conception. Title IV-D is anti-family, anti-God, and anti-Republican because it destroys nuclear families by creating perverse economic incentives that undermine traditional marriage, shared parenting, and family unity while generating unnecessary litigation. These policies violate the United States Constitution and Texas Constitution by infringing on fundamental parental rights and due process protected under the Fourteenth Amendment and Texas Bill of Rights; contravene RPT Platform Planks on Parental Rights, Equal Parenting, State Sovereignty, Family Law, and the Preamble declaring traditional families the strength of our nation; pervert the Party's mission to protect children and families; and defy our Principles affirming self-sufficient families founded on natural marriage. This system must be abolished to restore God-ordained family sovereignty.
