A Resolution to Address the Multifaceted Impacts of Undocumented Immigration on the State of Texas and Its Communities

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, as citizens and community representatives, unequivocally demand that all elected and appointed public servants at the state, county, and local levels – including the Government of Texas, Texas state legislators, county commissioners, sheriffs, law enforcement officers, judges, and district attorneys – uphold their oaths of office by enforcing immigration laws, and fulfilling their campaign commitments to address the critical impacts of undocumented immigration on the State of Texas. We specifically affirm that immigration laws must be applied impartially with special emphasis on prioritizing the violent criminal element.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we call upon these servants to take all necessary measures, including proposing and supporting new legislation, enforcing existing laws, and repealing ineffective policies, to secure our communities and address the economic, educational, environmental, and public safety concerns related to undocumented immigration. We specifically advocate for the enactment or strengthening of laws that impose enhanced penalties on Texas businesses that knowingly hire undocumented individuals, thereby discouraging employment practices and protecting job opportunities for legal residents.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we demand our state-level public servants actively work with and press the incoming President Elect Donald J. Trump administration to secure our borders, and enforce immigration laws towards undocumented individuals residing in Texas and the entire United States.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we fully support our public servants in using any legal means available – including collaborating with federal authorities, partnership with neighboring states, and, where necessary, the mobilization of state resources and personnel to uphold the security and integrity of Texas borders and communities.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we, as citizens and community representatives, demand our state-level elected and appointed public servants, including the Government of Texas, and Texas state legislators, press the incoming President Elect Donald J. Trump administration to collaborate with our neighboring countries, such as, Mexico and Canada in the enforcement of new and existing immigration laws for undocumented criminal individuals entering Texas and the United States illegally.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that we, as citizens of Texas, pledge our full support in any way required, including active civic engagement, participation in local initiatives, and advocacy efforts to bolster these actions and to secure a safer, more prosperous future for all Texans.
